Professional Tennis

In this section of the website I want to analyze different subjects around the Professional Tennis Tour. I will look at current developments in Pro Tennis, analyze important matches and match-ups and write about several other subjects that I think are interesting for most readers.

Let’s have a look at the current situation in the men’s and the women’s professional tennis game!

The Men’s Game

The men’s game is extremely interesting at the moment. Novak Djokovic is the best player so far this year and his winning streak got stopped at 43 consecutive wins in the Roland Garros semifinals by Roger Federer.

Rafael Nadal is still the number 1 player in the world and remained the king of clay by winning a sixth French Open title. He is now tied with Bjoern Borg for most French Open titles in Tennis History!

Roger Federer is also showing some strong form again and played some of his best tennis against Novak Djokovic in the French Open semifinals! It seems to me like he is really hungry again to compete with Djokovic and Nadal!

The race for number one in the world therefore seems open between those three players. For now Nadal gets to keep the number 1 spot but I believe that Djokovic has the best chance of gaining the number one spot sometime this year!

The grass-court season is underway and it seems like Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic have almost equal chances to win Wimbledon. I still think Federer has the best game of those three players on grass courts but anytime he plays against Nadal his nerves seem to get in his way a little bit at crucial times.

In my opinion there are currently three other guys that are capable to really compete for the majors with the Top 3. These guys are Robin Soderling, Andy Murray, and Juan-Martin Del Potro.

Del-Potro is just coming back from injury but it looks like he is getting back to his old form, slowly but surely. Soderling has already won a few tournaments this year and Andy Murray can always be dangerous in the majors.

Overall it seems like Men’s Professional Tennis is more exciting than it has ever been before!

The Women’s Game

The women’s game seems wide open to me at the moment. Even though Caroline Wozniacki is clearly the number one player in the world at the moment, she has not won a major and it seems like many players can beat her when they are in good form.

Li Na from China just won the French Open title and as strong as she played I believe that she will be a threat at most of the upcoming majors. Kim Clijsters has had some injury troubles lately but will try to peak for the majors and if she stays healthy should have a good chance at winning more majors!

Maria Sharapova played some really good Tennis during the clay court season but her serve also became a problem again in some matches. I think she will continue to improve and should have a good chance at winning either at Wimbledon or the US Open!

There are a few other women that can realistically contend for the upcoming major titles. I would put Zvonareva, Azarenka, and Stosur in that category.

A few other upcoming girls are making a strong move towards the world’s Top10 recently as well. Petra Kvitova, Andrea Petkovic, and Julia Goerges all have a successful future ahead of them in my opinion.
